USPSTF recommends syphilis screening for all pregnant women

The US Preventive Services Task Force published a statement in the Journal of the American Medical Association reaffirming a recommendation that all pregnant women be screened for syphilis infection early in pregnancy. An evidence report showed that as syphilis screening increased among pregnant women from 2002 to 2012, the number of congenital syphilis cases fell significantly.
