The GA OBGyn Society has an immediate opening for a Part-Time Accountant Professional
The Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society, the state membership association for OBGyn
physicians with more than 1,000 physician members, is seeking a detail-oriented part-time
accountant to oversee the organization’s financial accounting. This is a part-time, hourly position (up
to 30 hours a week) with flexible business time hours. The staff of the nonprofit association provides
leadership and services to physician members such as newsletter and communication, education and
conferences, support of volunteer board of directors and partnership grant activities relating to
women’s health. This new team member will become part of a small dedicated staff aimed at
activities to improve women’s healthcare in the state. Not suited for accounting business firms and
please no phone calls or drop-ins.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Accountant will:
Prepares asset, liability and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account entries
Documents final transactions by entering account information
Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options
Summarizes current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and
loss statement and other reports
Record payroll, depreciation and accruals to validate revenue and expense
Insure payroll for part-time employees entered in system for twice monthly payroll and journal
entry. Insure W-9’s completed for contract employees
Reconcile general ledger at month end, quarter end and at year end to ensure all revenues and
expenses have been recorded properly
Create an annual budget
Reconcile bank accounts
Complies with federal, state and local financial legal requirements
Maintains accounting controls, create audit schedules and work with auditor for annual audit
Work with CPA tax accountant filing annual taxes and 1099 preparation
Create a yearly rate schedule and yearly budget for Georgia Dept. of Health (DPH) grant funding
based on deliverables
Create monthly invoice governmental grant, accumulate data from staff working under the grant
Attend grant meetings for comprehension of deliverables
Attend monthly budget meetings with Executive Director to review budget performance
Present annual budget proposal to Executive Director for approval by the board yearly
Attend quarterly board meetings for to assist in finance detail matters
Assist in accounting oversight of four state meeting events yearly
Travel one week per year with ample notice and planning
Attend five meeting per year during part of the weekend with ample notice
Qualifications and Requirements:
4 year accounting degree
5 years accounting experience
Advanced experience with Sage accounting software, MS Office programs
Extensive knowledge of US generally accepted accounting principles
Some knowledge of HR and payroll
History of working with government grants desirable
