July 2020- Governor Kemp signed HB 1114 in a ceremony at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.  The legislation extends Medicaid coverage for mothers from two to six months postpartum and extends coverage to lactation specialists for mothers having trouble feeding their babies.

Dr. Al Scott, President of the Georgia OBGyn Society (GOGS) was present for the signing along with Rep. Sharon Cooper who sponsored the bill.  She acknowledged the influence of GOGS in the passing of HB 1114.  Gov. Kemp also signed HB 888 “Surprise Billing” to protect consumers from surprise medical bills.
