Mission Statement

The Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society has more than 950 members throughout Georgia and has been active since 1951.

Run by a volunteer statewide Board of Directors composed of OBGyn physician members, the Society engages in a number of services and activities to serve members including: advocacy for members, advocacy for women’s health and continuing medical education.

Organizational Overview

The Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society Inc is organized for the purposes of furthering the knowledge of obstetrics and gynecology among its members:

  • To improve obstetrical and gynecological teaching in all levels and areas of training
  • To improve the practice of obstetrics and gynecology in the State of Georgia by requirement of the high standards of practice and maintenance of such standards by encouragement and promotion of continuing postgraduate education
  • To cooperate with all agencies and organizations who seek to improve obstetrical and gynecological care in our state and to institute such measures which will serve to stimulate interest, increase knowledge, and promote fellowship among our members.

The organization has existed in Georgia since 1951 and is incorporated as a 501 (c) 6.

The organization is managed by a volunteer statewide Board of Directors and Advisory Council of OBGyn physician members. Its membership includes over 950 OBGyn physicians and related subspecialists. The leadership of the Georgia Section ACOG is part of the Society Board, forming a joint leadership board for the state.

The organization employs an Executive Director and additional personnel who report to the Board to run the day-to-day operations of the Society.
