Legislative Priorities
Georgia OBGyn Society 2026 Legislative Update
The 2026 Georgia legislative session ended with lawmakers pushing forward a broad agenda driven by election-year pressures, fiscal concerns, and ongoing policy debates. During the 40-day session, the General Assembly prioritized “affordability” measures, such as tax cuts and policies to reduce costs for Georgians, while also tackling key issues in education, healthcare, public safety, and insurance reform. Lawmakers ultimatelyapproved a state budget of nearly $38.5 billion that included pay raises for state employees, targeted educational
investments, and notable policy changes, including income tax cuts, new consumer protections, and reforms to transportation and insurance systems.
This end-of-session summary highlights the legislature’s key actions, notes which bills advanced or stalled, and provides insights into what these decisions mean for implementation, oversight, and future policymaking in Georgia.
